1868, the building was erected as a Scales House for the Millersvile Turnpike. Wagons were weighed on one of the two
large floor scales in order to determine the amount of toll to be paid at the Toll House near Hershey Avenue in Lancaster.
The building remained a wagon repair shop and harness shop until the 1920's when it was converted into apartments.
In October of 1970, the property was purchased by the McCauley family and gutted to the outer
walls, exposing four large BARN DOORS, one on each side of the building. They are now concealed within the walls.
The transformation from Wagon Shop to restaurant was completed in May of 1971 and has been continuously
operated by the McCauley family.
